What will you be learning?
Accountants have an influence on everything you will see and do in life. As well as equipping you with the skills to embark on a route to working as a high earning Accounting professional, at 18 or after progress through the university route.
A Level Accounting encourages you to develop a critical awareness of the impact and importance of accounting decisions on society in general. You will become skilled at preparing a wide range of accounting statements and interpreting financial data to aid business decision making.

What is AS and A2?
A levels are made up of the AS level and the A2. Each part makes up half of the overall A level grade.
Year One: the AS
This can be either a free standing qualification, or be valued as the first half of the full A level. At the end of the AS year, you have two options (depending on the preference of your school or college):
• take the AS level qualification only; OR
• continue to the second year and go for the full A level
Year two: the A2
In year two of a full A level, you take the A2 - this is not a separate qualification, but the second half of the A level. The A2 is designed to deepen the knowledge you gained during the AS level.

AS Requirements:
5 GCSEs A* - C. Must be from at least three different curriculum areas. Maths C required.
A2 Requirements:
To progress on to the A2 you first need to pass the AS in that chosen subject

What happens when you have finished?
What other learning could you do:
You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in areas of finance, accounting, mathematics and more general higher education courses.
With further training and qualifications, you could go into a job related to accounting such as an Accountant.
The course will also help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Accountancy, which could lead onto higher education in areas of finance, accounting, mathematics or more general higher education courses.
With further training and qualifications, you could go into a job related to accounting such as an Accountant.
You could go also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification, which will help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
